MBACC Business Development Services Manager Named President of Optimist Club
Shannon Furtick, IOM, business development services manager for the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce, has been named President of the Grand Strand Optimist Club for the 2019-2020 term.
An MBACC employee for 12 years, Shannon has been a member of the Grand Strand Optimist Club for the past five years. Prior to becoming President, she served as Vice President and as the 2018-2019 President Elect.
“We are proud of Shannon’s dedication to the Grand Strand Optimist Club and the work they do to serve the youth in our region,” said Karen Riordan, president & CEO of the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce. “Shannon’s appointment to President of the Club reaffirms the MBACC’s commitment to participating in programs and initiatives that improve the lives of residents in our communities.”
The Grand Strand Optimist Club is a civic organization that serves the youth of the Myrtle Beach region through service projects and fundraisers. The Club works with several organizations across the county such as Champion Autism Network, Grand Strand Miracle Leagues, Fostering Hope, Waccamaw Youth Center, New Directions and the Horry County Special Olympics. The Club meets the first and third Thursday of each month at TBonz Gill & Grill in Myrtle Beach from 12:30–1:30 p.m.
