Roll up your sleeves and grab some napkinsโitโs National BBQ Day! ๐
BBQ has been a South Carolina staple for 500 years. During that time, our state has come to be known for four different types of sauce: mustard, vinegar, light tomato, and heavy tomato. The Pee Dee region is home to BBQ joints serving all types. Explore them all on the Pee Dee BBQ Trail!

Yummy
I haven’t been there in decades.
With Memorial Day coming up, thereโs perhaps no better time to visit some of the local military memorial sites in the Pee Deeโlike Bishopville Flag Park, Lee County Veterans Museum, and the Florence National Cemetery & Stockade.
๐ Bishopville Flag Park flies 11 flags: six of which honor our men and women in uniform, four which represent governments, and the final one a POW/MIA flag.
๐ The Lee County Veterans Museum features exhibits that trace conflicts from the American Revolutionary War to present conflicts. Every branch of service history is represented.
๐ And the Florence National Cemetery & Stockade is the burial place for Union soldiers who died while being held at the Florence Stockade. The first woman to be buried in a National Cemetery, Florena Budwin, is interred at the Florence National Cemetery, which contains the remains of veterans from all major US conflicts. Just south of the cemetery is the site of the stockade.
