MEDIA STATEMENT
In response to the recent news that the total number of passengers that passed through the Myrtle Beach International Airport (MYR) in July 2016 increased by 7.3 percent over July 2015, Brad Dean, president and CEO of the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce, issued the following statement:
“We are excited to acknowledge this achievement because it not only underscores the Airport’s ability to effectively move hundreds of thousands of passengers with seamless efficiency, but it speaks volumes about our readiness to welcome 20 million visitors to the area by 2020. With increased capacity and additional non-stop cities of origin, MYR plays a significant role in helping us achieve that goal. Grand Strand 2020 is not just the Chamber’s vision; but the vision for the entire community to grow tourism during the spring and summer seasons, generate more year-round jobs, and extend the charming Southern hospitality for which our area is known.”
