MEDIA STATEMENT
In response to the recent news of an all-time passenger record set at MYR, Brad Dean, president and CEO of the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce, issued the following statement:
"This is exciting news for all of us, as it underscores the confidence we have in reaching the goals set out in 'Grand Strand 2020,' a tourism initiative outlining the destination's five-year annual milestones and cumulative accomplishments to be reached by the year 2020. The airport's continued growth and success in adding new non-stop cities of origin, plays a significant role in helping us achieve the goal to welcome 20 million visitors to the area by 2020. 'Grand Strand 2020' is not just the chamber's vision; but the vision of the entire community to grow tourism – particularly during the spring and summer seasons – and generate more year-round jobs."
