MEDIA STATEMENT
In response to the NAACP's proposed change to the Memorial Day Bike Weekend 23-mile traffic loop, Brad Dean, president and CEO of the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce, issued the following statement:
"Nationally, Memorial Day weekend is a family-friendly celebration and a time to honor our true American heroes. Most visitors who come to our destination on any given weekend are respectful of our community while still having a great time. Unfortunately, our Memorial Day Weekend activities have required local government and law enforcement to adopt much-needed safety measures. We support their responsible approach to controlling the impact of Atlantic Beach Bikefest, including the traffic portion that makes the weekend safer for everyone."
