MYRTLE BEACH AREA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE TO HOST PRESS CONFERENCE ON PUERTO RICO TIP-OFF BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT RELOCATING TO CCU
The Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce will hold a press conference on Thursday, October 12 at 2:00 p.m. in the boardroom at the MBACC, 1200 N. Oak Street, Myrtle Beach, SC 29578.
The conference will cover the relocation of the Puerto Rico Tip-Off Basketball Tournament to Coastal Carolina University in the wake of the destruction from hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico.
In attendance will be Myrtle Beach Mayor, John Rhodes; President and CEO of the MBACC, Brad Dean; CCU Director of Athletics, Matt Hogue; and the Sr. Vice President from ESPN, Pete Derzis.
The 2017 Puerto Rico Tip-Off will take place Nov. 16-19 at the HTC Center on the campus of Coastal Carolina University in Conway, SC. The City of Myrtle Beach is also playing a role in hosting the event.
Teams participating in the tournament include: Appalachian State, Boise State, Illinois State, Iowa State, University of South Carolina, Tulsa, University of Texas at El Paso, and Western Michigan. South Carolina will face Illinois State in the event’s opening round on Nov. 16 at 11:30 a.m. ET.
The event is an ESPN production and all games will be broadcast on the ESPN family of networks, including the opening game and championship game on ESPN2.
