Myrtle Beach is poised to be a landing station for subsea cables, which will be an international connection for the Grand Strand in the technology sector. DC BLOX will be opening a data center and landing station for the cables this summer near Market Common. The landing station will house cables for companies such as Google and Meta, as well as supporting existing industry by providing outsourcing opportunities for tech infrastructure. The Milken Institute recently published their 2023 report on America's best performing cities. The rankings were based on 12 performance measures that were classified into three categories; labor-market performance, high-tech impact, and access to economic opportunities. The Myrtle Beach-Conway-North Myrtle Beach, SC-NC MSA was ranked as the 12th best performing area in the United States in 2023. The MSA is a leader the southeast region in employment growth, wage growth, housing affordability, housing availability, and broadband access.
